i was thinking of selling my 1995 toro 724
i don't like the drum auger design
since the machine is lighter than the older tanks
it tends to roll up when hitting 8 inches of snow and i have to keep lifting up on the handles
but it is a really nice machine, hate to sell it
i wonder could it be possible to replace the drum augers for the standard ones
the problem is toro do not make a 24 inch wide snow throw anymore but do have one thats very similar to mind but it's only 22 inch wide and it's not drummed
this means the augers would be 1 inch shorter on both sides
do you think this would work in my machine?
my only other option is to find another brand of snow thrower with 24 wide augers

My neighbours machine has the drums , it goes through anything and never lifts up going through snow, maybe you could fab some weights onto the sides of the auger to keep it down.

maybe it's the older heavier ones
and i had one, circa 1978 that was a beast
but was too heavy for me to use
i can't have a too heavy machine due to my back
problems
