I've just hooked up my GSM module for the Concord 4 system. I haven't sent in the LiveWatch/Alarm.com paperwork yet but I'm wondering if I already have a problem.
On the GSM module it self, LED 1 is reporting 3 blinks, which means unable to register on the GSM network. However my signal level is a perfect 5/5.
Now the STATUS LEDs are completely off. They all turn on a startup but then go off for good.
Should I be concerned or is all of this simply because my account hasn't been activated yet? Perhaps that's why it cant register?
The manual makes me fear the worst as it doesnt mention that as a possible reason, and says the unit is not powered up if all 3 lights are off.
Please help me rest easy this weekend knowing my module is not hosed :)

The unit needs to be activated by alarm.com before it will register.

On the topic of the GSM module....
Why does the GSM power go through the battery and not directly from the panel? Is it because its peak current draw is 1600mA which exceeds the panel's 1000mA maximum?

Bingo...
The other option is to use the power supply module. In all honesty, I've used a bunch (like at my house) without wiring to the battery, haven't had a problem. The 1.6 amp draw is only used in poor reception areas where the unit has to search for a signal. Of course, you also have to take into consideration what other modules (keypads) you're trying to power as well.
