I have a Ademco Vista 10p with a 6150 keypad. The keypad has several types of arming features like AWAY, STAY, INSTANT, and MAX. I can arm and disarm from the keypad...When arm with Away or Max it works like its supposed to. When i arm with Stay or Instant, it will LOOK like it arms but when i open the door nothing happens, it doesn't trip the alarm. When i try and test the alarm with the TEST button it doesn't work. I know the alarm works and the siren works because when armed with AWAY or MAX it arms and the siren goes off if the door is opened...do I have a defective keypad? If so, if i get another keypad do i just swap them out or do i have to program something?

After you set it to Max on Instant, do your wait 30 seconds-1 minute? Because there is an exit delay and you may be opening the door within that time, tus not tripping the alarm. Try this and let me know what happens!

yea i wait the alloted amount of time...it will beep every second up until the last 10 seconds, then it will beep fast for the last ten seconds before it arms...after it arms thats when i open the door...not only does the siren NOT go off, but the display doesn't show a door has been opened either..yet in the other two modes that do work, the display and siren both show correctly.

They have the keypads on ebay for $25 so I guess I could just get one of those and try it out.

Most likely, the keypad is not your issue. This is either a user command error, or your zone is not properly programmed.
In stay and instant modes (instant is just a variant of stay) there will be no audible countdown.
If you are entering [code] + 3 for stay, and [code] + 7 for instant, the exit delay still runs, but there is no audible indication.
If this is a new system, could you have mis-programmed one of the zone inputs (6150 class keypads don't give you the programming menus for the zone programming)?
What you are describing is a zone auto bypassing.

I've had the system for about 5 years now and never had any issues up until about six months ago. If it were bypassing the zones wouldn't it be doing that for all types of arming and not just a couple?

This is why I try to politely hint that people not make us play "20 questions":
It's an existing system that has been operating properly in the past?
The zone opens and closes normally in chime mode?
The keypad enters all 10 digits normally (do you hear a beep with each keypress)?
The test command for a fixed word keypad: [installer code] + 5 + 0 should produce a siren blast, and the keypad will display dd.
