I have 2 air handlers located in an unheated attic. both coils in the units are feed with hot water from a boiler in the basement on two seperate zones. I would like to minimize any heat loss so I was thinking of draping insulation batts over the units like a large blanket. since there is no combustion, would this be a problem?

You must first check with the manufacturer of these units before doing such a thing. Even though you do not have a burner inside these air handlers, there is a fan. From my own experience when dealing with such a situation, I always opted to build a room around the air handlers inside the attic.

They will have insulation on the inside.
