The humidifier in our house does not appear to be properly attached to the furnace. There is a gap (1/2 inch going to zero) on one side between the humidifier and the furnace/ductwork wall. When the furnace is running hot air blows out of this gap.
My question is this: how to close this gap if reinstalling is not an option. Is it ok to use foil duct tape and cover the gap good or should I use mastic?
Thanks
Vik

As long as the mounting is good & solid, you can use whatever will work to close the gap. Mastic over mesh is probably going to be your best bet.
