I have a Vista 20 security System that was installed by protection one. They installed a 6150 and a 6150RF keypads. I've moved the system to my new home and elected not to have protection one monitor it. After looking at other forums, it appears that programming the system with the 6150 keypad will be very difficult, so I bought a 6270 keypad. It appears that I cannot get the control Panel to recognize the 6270 because I continue to get a ECP Error. I've changed the ECP Channel to 1, then 2, then 16, then 17 and neither one worked. I even used the 6150 keypad to reset the control panel to factory settings by using *97 (at least I think I did). I rechecked the wiring and all looks good.

Does anyone have any tips for how I can connect my 6270 keypad to my old ProtectionOne system?

I'm wondering if I need to go out and purchase a brand new control panel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On residential control panels (VISTA-20PS or equivalent), two
6270s may be used (addresses 1 and 2). These addresses (in field
*189) are enabled by default. If the defaults have been changed,
enable these addresses (in field *189) using an alpha-keypad and the
Data Field Programming procedures located in the panel Installation
and Setup Guide.

How to Change the ECP Address
After enabling addresses in the control panel using an alpha-keypad,
power up each 6270 one at a time, and set its address to one of the
addresses you enabled in the control panel. If this is a first time
power-up of the unit, follow the initialization procedure in this
section. Otherwise, access the Central Station screen then follow the
procedure to change the address on the unit.

Is it a Vista 20p or a Vista 20se? The difference is critical. If it's SE, you _can't_ use a 6270.

If Pro One installed it, then it probally is a 320P1 or a 300P1. It is not likely that Pro One installed a standard vista 20. Have you double checked the wiring, you may have an open circuit.
