The doors do not alarm when opened in zone 2. Zone 2 always comes up ready, even when I disconnect the zone 2 wire from the terminal board. Zone 2 is not by-passed at the keypad. I swapped zone 2 wire with the zone 5 wire at the terminal board and now the doors alarm when opened. I just turned the system on after buying the home. The panel was not locked out by the installer, so I shorted the eeprom and used the default codes to set up the zones. I made zone 1 00 and the rest of them 01 (no motion or fire detectors, just doors and windows). I also disabled the communicator and changed the loops to N.C. (no resistors). I did find a bad reed switch on one of the doors (always closed, regardless of magnet position).

Could the installer have by-passed zone 2 to force a ready light? Problem with board???

Sincerely,

Dan

For DSC PC1500/1550 panels, this is not an unusual failure mode. If you have defaulted the panel, and the zone input is not reacting, then your system is on borrowed time. Once they start doing this the failures will typically spread to the other inputs, usually after thunderstorms with nearby lightning strikes (the "EMP" internally shorts the input circuitry).
