Hello, i am going to be buying an aprilaire 600 unit and want to install it into a tempstar furnace. Them model numbers of the furnace are:
NUGK050MF03
867.769412

I have a good place to mount it right above the unit but most of my questions are how to hook it up so it can run automatically with the unit and also so it can automatically turn itself off based on the humidity levels in the house.
I looked at the control board and right off the bat didnt see any of the common ports, IE... HUM, HMD, or EAC. It appears there are older terminals that are just lettered.. I can provide pictures if need be.

My other question would be when looking at the unit i dont under stand what the large round whole is for to the left of the unit. Where does that need to be ducted to?

Lastly, to mount the automatic humidistat do you need to put it up by the regular thermostat or can it go anywhere?

Thanks for all your help.

-Nick

are you planning on putting this on the supply or return side of the system?

Yeah, looks like it's an older model, and does not have the hooks up for this.

You will be best to use A50 relay for your set up.

That is for your bypass duct. If you mount the unit on the supply side, the duct the ties to your return.

If the unit is on the return, then the bypass goes to the supply side (Best)

Lastly, to mount the automatic humidistat do you need to put it up by the regular thermostat or can it go anywhere?
This can be mounted next to the t-stat, or on the return duct higher than the unit/by-pass.

Is the A50 relay pretty self explanatory for wiring?

Is there a specific spot it should hook up to the supply side?

Does it make a difference one way or another. I have no clue how i would be able to pull cable to the location where my tstat is.. however i would prefer it be there.

Also, to make sure my terminology is correct...
supply side is the cold air return, and return side is the output of the heater/AC system....

Thanks for you help!

Perfect!

Yes, I think so. Also the humidistat manual will show you too.

As long you are clear from the A-Coil

Return would be best.. That way you are getting a whole house avg of humidity reading, than just the hall way.

Wrong.. Return is the cold air (going into the filter/blower)
Supply side is above the furnace/AC coil.

Thanks for you help!
You are welcome Nick. Been enjoying the snow? (if you've been getting in your area)

err, ok, well now that i know where the return side and supply sides are thats a bit different! The supply side is above the furnace and the return side is to the right and goes up on my unit.
I'm going to have to do some measuring to see if its going to fit over there. I am guessing that the return side is the best place to have it?

Yes, we are getting a pretty good snowstorm right now... I live in the city so its not all that bad but i presume its blizzard conditions once you get outside the city...

Can you take a photo of your system?

Yes... but we'll see what you got for set up after I see a pix.
