I have a home (vacant) 1/2 mile away that is being vandalized. I've had to disconnect the power and phone to discourage any further damage. Are there any battery operated systems that will connect to a prepaid cell phone to initiate the call to alert me at home? I want to catch them myself.
Thanks
Mike

You will not find any hardware that will do what you want using only battery power. Most modern security systems will not even power up without AC power.

I can run a dedicated power line to any device and keep the rest of the house 'dead'...is there anything that will activate a cell phone to alert me a half mile away?

The following is probably what you are thinking of:

United Security Products, Inc., Security alarm systems, alarm sensors, sirens, magnetic contacts (http://www.unitedsecurity.com/pages/cellular.html)

Elk makes one, it uses alarm.com and can work on battery alone.

Hmmm, That ElkGuard unit claims 90 day standby mode on battery. It's a fairly new product, so I have no real world info on it. 90 days is a long time for a 3.3Ah battery...
