I have an unmonitored ADT system that came with the house, which was built in 2003. There is no manual and I do not have codes.

Recently, the control pad started beeping, and displayed "Zone 8 Low Battery". By pressing status, the beeping stops for 6 to 8 hours, and starts again.

Zone 8 is described as "Front Bedroom". However, Zone 7 is also described as "Front Bedroom". And when I open the 2 windows in that bedroom, the control pad displays that fact but says Zone 7.

I have opened all of the other windows in the house and never is Zone 8 implicated. The other 3 bedrooms all have their own zones.

I would love to replace the low battery, but don't know where it might be.

Recently, instead of "low batt", the control pad now displays "Zone 8 Supervisory".

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

sounds like you might have a Concord...
Previous owner may have took a sensor with them/lost it (wireless touchpad)?
Installer may have learned a new sensor in, took old defective sensor out and forgot to delete it out of the system?
Without any codes, tough to troubleshoot...

You have 2 windows, it is likely that there is a transmitter on _each_ window.

Yes, there is a transmitter on each window in the "front bedroom", but both windows, when opened, show up as Zone 7.

Do doors have battery problems as well, or are those activated through another mechanism? In other words, once I check all the windows in the house, and none come up as Zone 8, do I then need to check further?

The best approach may be to unpower the system. The transformer seems easy enough, but how difficult/dangerous is it to undo a connection to the master battery in the box in my closet?

The battery is a 12v battery, you just pull any one of the slip-on connectors off of the battery.

If your zones are all wireless, then what you describe makes no sense. _Each_ wireless transmitter is a separate zone number. So if you have a wireless transmitter on each of those windows, they should not be reporting as the same zone. (you _can't_ program two wireless devices to the same zone number).

A shot in the dark here, but...Are there any wires running to those wireless transmitter(s)? If so, maybe they hardwired both windows into one transmitter?
