Hello,
I have an old furnace- the plate reads
Quiet May
Model: QO-11 or 00-11
Serial: H5
I googled it but the only reference I can find are ads from the 30's and 40's.
It's been well maintained and just the other day wasn't starting. So I called the company to send someone over and paid $104 for a diagnostic. He told me that the stack relay needed to be replaced.(Honeywell Model RA117A1047 )He went to the truck to put together a quote and came back saying they don't make stack relays any more and that they would switch me over to cad something or other. This would cost $898. I paid the diagnostic and googled the relay and found it online for $121. I ordered it and meanwhile jumped the hot and motor connections on the relay and the furnace fired up. I got the new relay and installed it . It still doesn't fire up unless I jump it again. The thermostat is the old style honeywell dial job. 2 wires. Any suggestions?

A jumper from hot to motor bypasses the relay that is pulled in when the thermostat closes. After you installed the stack control did you put the contacts in step? At 12 o'clock there is an arm with a small "ear" that you pull out about 1/4" and release to put the contacts in step.

If that doesn't work you may have a thermostat or t'stat wire problem.

I pulled back on the ear and nothing seemed to change. So I am checking the thermostat and there doesn't seem to be that spark when it usually trips to turn the furnace on. How can I tell if it's the thermostat or the wire?
