I got home today and both of my keypads read OC in the display. None of the keys work. I have tried to unplug the keypads as well as the battery and outlet power sources. When I plug the battery back in (regardless of reattaching the keypads first or second), the siren sounds for about 5 sec then shuts off and the keypads return to the display OC. How do I repair this OPEN CIRCUIT so that I may have the system back on? Is it just a low battery at the control?
Thanks
Thanks

It means that the data wiring connection between the keypad(s) and the main control has a problem. Have you done any work that could affect the keypad wiring? Even something as simple as reversing the yellow and green pair on one of the keypads could do this.

No work done recently. Just got really cold here the last couple of days. Could it be a low battery? Should the system reboot after powering down everything and the plugging everything back in if it is not a power problem? What else coulsd cause both keypads to display this?
Thanks

Give it a shot. Extreme temps at both ends of the range isn't good for electronics. It could just be a glitch, but you could easily have a squirrel nesting in the attic.

If replacing the battery doe not have the desired effect, can you think of any other possibilities? We bought the house with the system already installed and I don't think that the wiring goes through the attic based upon where the keypads and control are located......big waste of time and wire to do that. It appears that it is wired prior to finishing the walls like the audio in the basement was done.

Simple test. Power the panel down, disconnect the keypads from their current location (marking the wires, of course) and temporarily connect them directly to the keybus at the motherboard (just match color for color) with some scrap telephone wire. If the keypads work normally, then something has rodgered up your keypad wiring. If they don't then the motherboard may be checking out on you.
