A word to people with door opening/closing problems that come on with cold weather. Most garage floors have no footers, so they will rise with freezing temps, causing slight alignment changes in the door tracks. I usually set door force adjustments to the bare minimum for up/down force. So when things change slightly, that may need re-adjustment.

It is important to keep that adjustment close to the sensitive point, in case of real problems(kid, car, or whatever blocking the door), which is why those adjustment s are there.

Usually the problem is with the ground heaving due to frost, and the limits are what should be adjusted, the force really should never have to be adjusted and should be set so that it takes very minimal amount of force to reverse door upon contact.

But every season, the force and limits should be set along with a minor service to the door to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

A garage door is usually the largest moving object in a persons house, and something that shouldn't be taken for granted at all.
