Hi.
I have a patio umbrella and the manual tilt mechanism is broken.
The button that you push in to release it broke off now it moves back and forth at will.
I currently have 2 metal screw type straps to hold it straight but I have to take them on and off everytime I raise or lower the umbrella. It is time consuming and troublesome.
Any ideas on a better fix.
Doesn't have to tilt. Just raise and lower without having to take something on and off.
Tried searching the net and did not find any thing. And the manufacturing sticker has come off and I dont have the paperwork for it.

If I understand you right....
A piece of PVC pipe or conduit the correct inside diameter to slid over the pole with a pretty tight fit. Once you find that, slide it over the pole to cover the tilt hinge, drill a hole all the way through the top section of the pole. Slide the pipe down past the joint and drill a hole at a 90 degree angle to the first. Use a pin through the top hole to keep the hinge straight. When time to lower, remove the pin, slide the pipe down to the lower set of holes, re-insert the pin so nothing gets lost.
You will still have to slide something down out of the way, but I think the sliding guide is pretty tight to the pole isn't it?
Either that or take it somewhere and have them weld the tilt joint.

That was my first thought but the crank housing is in the way so I can't slide the pvc up from the bottom of the pole to where the broken tilt is at.
