I made all the connections from the Telco box to the RJ31X (RJ) and back to my telephones. All connections are exactly as described in the instructions. When the direct connect (DC) cord is unplugged from the RJ, everything is fine. When the DC cord is plugged into the RJ, no dial tone AND no calls can be made/received. Any ideas? Is there something that has to be programed in order for the panel to pass the phone through the panel? All the pins in the RJ seem to be straight and in alignment. Using a multimeter to test conductivity, I'm getting conductivity one way or another from the terminals inside the RJ to the green and red wires that connect to the panel (#23 & 24 respectively). The red and green wires from the Telco go to the red and green wires in the RJ. The gray and brown wires in the RJ go back to my telephone (in my case, blue and blue/white). I know I have the Tip and Ring wires the right way.

Did you connect the brown and grey wires on the patch cord to terminals 21 & 22? Those are the connections that return the dial tone through the panel circuitry.

YOU my friend, are a genius.
That was not clear to me in the instructions.
Thank you very much.
