We have a craftsman garage door opener model type 53000. it has a premium console mounted on the wall. The console has three buttons. I want to add a simple pushbutton at the door to make it easy to open it. can a simple button switch be wired across the premium console wires to active the door?

Yes. The two wires that trigger the door can be wired to any momentary switch (like a doorbell switch).
