I have a HE365a with a manual Humidistat. It needs 0.7A. I need to wire it to my new KG6RA Nordyne furnace. The furnace has 0.5A @ 120v HUM contact.
The humidifier has 2 yellow wires (24v) to be connected to humidistat.
Do I just connect power cable to HUM contacts and humidistat to 24v yellow wires, or am I missing something?
Thank you

You can wire an out let to the HUM 120 port, and then plug the humidfier into that.
Then just wire the two yellow wire right to the humidistat.

And what about 0.7A requirment? HUM provides only 0.5A.
Wouldn't that be a problem for the furnace?

You will be fine. There are many unit out there wired that way and has not been issue.
I would not wire up a steam unit to the HUM, that for sure will be an issue.

I installed my HE365a. Everything seems to be working fine.
The water is flowing, the fan is turning, however the humidity level in the house doesn't get above 20%.
What could be the problem?

How big is the house?
Lot of wood/hard wood floors?
Does the furnace run long or short cycles?
Is the unit mounted on the supply or return side of the system?

This is a 1440 Sq. Ft. townhouse.
Most of the floors have carpet.
The furnace works for 5-7mins every time. Keeps the temperature at 74 degrees 24/7.
This is a powered unit, so I mounted it on the hot air supply, according to Honeywell's recomendations. It is right above the furnace.

That's a pretty short run time.. How cold is it outside?
74˚ is pretty warm.. What is the make and model of the t-stat?

It's about 30 degrees outside (Baltimore MD). The furnace is new, so I guess it's very efficient and that's why I have such a short run time.
We have a 9 month old baby, so we have to keep it at 73-74..
T-stat is by Honeywell, model H8908b (manual). It came with the humidifier.

new furnace don't have short run time. the temps are some what mild, what is the run time avg in the cold snap, or you haven't used it on a cold snap yet?

That's a humidistat... Thermostat is what controls the furnace.

A shot in the dark, guess you are some what oversized, may been able to get by with at 60k model. A manaul-J (load calc) would point out for sure.
But when a cold snap comes, will find out if it cycles. Ideal design is the furnace is running non-stop on a cold snap, and is able to keep temp.
Like mine, I am running non-stop right now on 1st stage with temps -5˚ (I have two stage)

So, my problem is the short run time?
Will it help if I'll make the humidifier continue to work after the furnace stops heating? Just having the fan circulating the air?

yes, the short run time has something to do with it since the furnace doesn't run long enough to allow the humidifier to do it's job. If it runs for 5 min, how long does it sit before it starts up again?
You could make it run with your fan, but I tried it in the past with mine, and it really didn't do much better, just a lot of wasted water down the drain.
Also, I don't think I've asked if you had fresh air tied into the return, and how old is the home?

It takes about 25 mins till it starts to run again.
I don't have any fresh air intake.
The house is 23 y.o.

Just a thought: The furnace has 3 burners. Is it possible to shut 1 down, to make it "less efficient" and to run longer?

no, i would not suggest doing that. Just see what it does when it get really cold out.

Hello Jay,
Here is the update:
last week the humidity got to 27% while it was 32 degrees outside.
This week the humidity level dropped to 20% while outside is 20 degrees. The furnace works a lot more time, than it did before but the humidifier seems to perform even worse...:wall:

You gotta have a leakage/air exchange if your humidity is dropping out that low!
Can you take a photo of where the humidifier is set up on your furnace?
Is the water flowing out of the drain tube?

I have new windows and door. I'm 100% sure that I don't have any leakage. The house looks sealed.
I actually opened the humidifier during the work cycle and watched the fan spinning and water flowing through the pad. verything looked just fine. I can't understand what's wrong...
Yes, I can take pictures. Where would you like me to send them?

I don't know what to say of why it's not keeping up? Is it tied to hot or cold water supply?

it's connected to cold water supply. I don't think I can afford to waste so much hot water...

I didn't see a dent our gas bill with mine on hot water.
