You cannot access the zone programming menus with a 6150 class keypad (see your installer manual). You need a 2-line alpha keypad like a 6160.
If you were not in *56 mode, you didn't enroll _anything_.

IS THE RF KEYPAD ON THE TABLE AS WELL THE UNITS Do not locate RF receiver closer than 10 feet avoid interference
from the microprocessors in those units.

Honeywell/Ademco in it's infinite wisdom chose to use the word "check" instead of "open" on most keypads to indicate an open zone. To add insult to injury, some of the voice keypads use "fault".
The display is exactly as it should be.

CHECK indicates that a problem exists with the displayed zone(s) and requires attention.
Note: The control will sense a high resistance in the loops on hardwired zones 2–8
and display “CHECK” and the affected zone number when the system is in the
disarmed mode. It will not be possible to arm the system as long as this condition
exists (unless this zone is bypassed). If the system is in the armed mode when the
high resistance condition occurs, this display will not appear, but will do so as
soon as the system is disarmed. Check the sensor or the loop wiring for the
displayed zone.
