I recently purchased a new VC Radiance B-Vent Propane stove - It makes a loud rushing sound when it starts and randomly during operation. The reseller says they'll have to replace the stove and redo all of the chimney inserts (this is fee based, not a swap.) A friend checked and thought that when they converted the stove from NG to Propane the oriface spring may not have been changed out. He seemed to think there was too much gas flowing into the valve - replacing this part may solve the issue. Thoughts?

The flame is now only lit on the left side of the stove. Turned it off completely, worried about CO, really cold up here in NH now too especially after the ice storm. The "logs" have soot on them, never seen this before. Thoughts?

Did they install this unit, if they did and it was done improperly, they should re-install at no charge to you.

Does this noise sound like a jet engine? If so, what you have is called venturi ignition caused by a pressure problem. I have seen this happen in LP systems when fuel is near the bottom of the tank.

This is a job for a professional.
