Hi,
I would like to insulate between the lower and upper levels in a home that has been turned into apartments. Recently, the upstairs received a second layer of hardwood as an "upgrade" from carpet, so it's louder downstairs. The house was remodeled in the 80s and I believe it's just drywall on the ceiling (no plaster and lath).
I can most easily get to the ceiling of the downstairs apartment. Are there any suggestions for noise insulation - blown in cellulose, foam in a can, etc.? I do not want to replace the ceiling - luckily it has a swirl texture to easily hide small blemishes. The apartment downstairs is 775 square feet.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!
