the house got cold n i turned the heat on n noticed there was no heat coming on the furnace was running but the outside unit was not i checked the breaker n it was tripped, i reset the breaker n the outside unit still didnt come on i replaced the the thermostat n still wnt come on i got power all the way to the contactor. i manually pushed the contactor inn and the unit came on and heat wld come out of vents i got it running on emg. heat what cld b wrong maybe a bad contactor? pls help!:confused:

I would check for 24v at the contactor when the t-stat is calling for heat or cool. The terminals on the side of the contactor are usually for the low voltage. You can do this with the high voltage turned off to the condensor. Also check all the wire nuts inside the unit. Many times the wires will break inside the wire nuts.

Your new puppy has obviously chewed your thermostat wires in two or three pieces, so get that repaired and then replace the little fuse inside the air handler since it is probably blown. Replace the fuse with a identical one and have a extra one on hand in case of future problems. A good way to prevent the thermostat wires outside from being damaged is to enclose them in a flexible metal conduit which you can buy at any home improvement stores electrical department. You will need some of the small gray wire nuts anyway to put the chewed in two wires back together so get you some while you are there.:cool:
