My fireplace does not have the correct draft. It is an interior fireplace with it's own flue though there is fireplace diagonally behind it in the kitchen. I presume it has it's own flue because in the basement there are three ash doors. (One for each fireplace and one for the furnace)
When a fire is lit, it doesn't seem to have enough oxygen and goes out. (The flue is open and cleaned and has no blockage.) I have tried opening a window in the room, heating up the chimney, starting with fatwood with the same effect. If I close the glass doors to the fireplace, however, it blazes. The fireplaces were built in 1962 and are original to the home.
Could it be the chimney cap is on to close?
Any help to solve the problem is greatly appreciated!
Thanks is advance@!
