I'm having difficulty locating an oval plastic cable-pull handle to replace the one I broke on my Ashley sofa recliner. This is the flush mount type which I think are fairly standard on several makes of sofa recliners. The handle housing is oval in shape, about 4.5 inches by 2.5 inches. The handle is plastic, half-round with a cable "tail." Any advice on locating a source for a replacement part would be great.
Thanks and regards.

Talk to the store where you bought the sofa. They should be able to order you a new handle. You would have to have serial numbers and model names to order from Ashley direct. The place you bought the sofa from should have all this information in their sales records.

Unfortunately, the place I bought the sofa is out of business. The thing was built by Gentry Furniture Industries, taken over by Ashley. Ashley has been totally uncooperative. Do you have any idea if this handle is standard/universal, and in use by other producers. My experience is that furniture stores have lots of salespeople but few or no repair service or parts. Thanks for your reply.

The best place I found that had recliner couch cables was JM upholstery in England, but I could only reach them by snail mail. So I made my own using a bicycle brake cable and a plastic loop from the hardware store.
