Carpentry and Woodworking - installing closet maid-type shelving to drywall

:wall: I had a room and closet painted this week. The painter took down wire shelving in my closet and replaced it to my design. As I started to place clothes on the racks I detected that the screws were already pulling out of the wall. On most of them I can pull them straight out with my fingers. He used the J-type plastic support clips by Closet Maid. Some have screws going directly into the plastic j-clip ( which has the plastic going into the wall also) and some with nails. There are support brackets in addition to the clips (attached to the wall and back portion of the shelves). What is the best way to correct this problem?

Use a stud finder to locate the studs. Move the clips and braces to the stud locations and fasten to the studs with screws.

Oooh I hate it when the closet maid installers use 400 clips and screws to put up shelving. They could do it right by using Ken's method of finding a stud and using one clip every 16 inches. Too simple and very strong.
