I have a Lennox furnace G50UH along with a Generalaire 1042 Humidifier, this was all professionally installed, new, 2 yrs back, My humidifier does not want to work now, The humidisat is directly wired to the furnace circuit board, I tried getting a reading from the furnace circuit board to see if the manual Humidistat is getting power,
My questions are;
Should I be looking for 24volts AC or DC ? and when is there power there, ie furnace running or blower running?
Thx in advance!

The power is AC, and depends on how it wired up, of it's wired to HUM, should be a reading any time the burners are on.

if it's wired up to EAC, or ACC. then should read any time the blower is running. If it's wired to that a transformer should be in place.

Thanks Jay11J
I dont seem to to have any reading on the furnace circuit board, can that be possible? (the furnace is working fine)

Maybe.

is it wired to HUM, and other wire to C? (Where the t-stat wires hooks up)

Yes the Humidistat is wired directly to the furnace board black is on "Y" and white is on "C"
I just checked with my muti meter again and I have no reading during any cycle of the furnace

Thanks again for you help Jay11J
One last question,
As I said the Humidifier was directly wired to the Furnace Board, Black to "Y" and White to "C", (Note: this was professionally installed and did work last year, but the is no voltage there now)

I just changed the white wire, now it is Black to "Y" and white to "W" there is 24 volts there when the furnace starts up, The Humidifier works with the furnace now but from start up to finish.
My question is can I have it wired only when the blower fan kicks on????
The terminals on the furnace board are
Y W R G C (Model Lennox G50UH)

Thanks again for your help, Muchly appreciated!

Do you have a heat pump?

Y is cooling side if the low voltage, that will power up when call for compressor.

The "Y" wire should go to W, and other wire to C.

I am not sure why they did that, but they should of wired it to the HUM on the board.. A transformer is needed for this.

No.. I find that the humidifier runs better with heat only than with fan alone.

Thanks again Jay11J
No I do not have a heat pump.

As I mentioned I now have my Humidistat wired to the accesory terminals on the bottom of the furnace board, "Y" and "W" and as you previously replied this is the cooling side.

So upon some further investigation, I have a 24 Volt connecter on my board, Would it be better to use it over what I have now or just connect it to "W" and "C" (also as you previously mentioned).
If I do use the 24V connector where do I connect the other wire?
thanks

Yes. That will power up any time call for heat.

Leave it on "C".
