I had a Buderus boiler installed along with an indirect water heater. Recently I have noticed water dripping from the seams/joints of the flue pipe. The flue pipe is 5" off the boiler and transitions to 7" into the chimney. During the summer while supplying the indirect zone, there was no water or condensation dripping from the flue pipe. Now that we are in the heating season, there is quite a bit of this dripping from the flue pipe. The boiler is rated at 84.2% efficiency. The flue pipe is heavy gage galvanized.
My questions are:
1. Is the condensation due to the higher efficiency of the new boiler or is there something else going on. The boiler that the Buderus replaces was a dinosaur and did not have this problem. The previous boiler had a standing pilot whereas this new one uses an intermittent pilot.
2. Is there a remedy to this problem.
Thanks for any input and I hope that I am in the right forum.
