I had a company come out a year ago and install this humidifier and I thought all was well, but today I noticed the water never shuts off.
I checked all the wireing and I do hear the solenoid make a click when it powers on, but water just keeps flowing right through it.
I opened it up and cleaned it out, but I can not get it to stop the water flow. Is the solenoid bad? Is it possable the wireing is wrong and it is causing this?
I do not have a sail switch the transformer is connected to the board and from there to the control and then to the solenoid.
Please help I do not want to pay these guys $90 to come out and check it.

What happens when you unhook the wire from the valve?
If this was put in less than a year ago, it's under warranty, so give them a call before it runs out.

Unhooking the wires has no effect.
It is just over a year so they will not replace it under warranty.
It has a clear water path from one side to the other it looks like the thin wall that separates the chambers has corroded away.
I found a replacement solenoid online for $66 plus shipping. I just wish I could find one locally.

I know you can't find these at your local stores. You may be able to get one from a dealer, or HVAC supply store if there is one in your area.

Jay, I don't know much about the humidistat solenoids, but irrigation ones can clog/stay open if there is any debris in them.
Try turning off your supply, unscrewing the hose/line, and see if you cannot flush out any debris in the solenoid or try taking it out with a toothpick or something. If its already broken and you are goin to replace it, its not like you can do more damage.
Does the water run through it all the time or just when the heat or fan runs? It sounded to me like it only does it when the system runs... if so, isnt that what its supposed to do?

Capt.
He said the keeps on flowing no matter what, has taken it off to clean and said he noticed the wall inside the valve was gone.

Had a problem with the subject humidifier whereby water would continue to flow through the humidifier after the furnance turned off. Replaced the solenoid valve on risk but this did not solve the problem. The solution was to replace the humidistat (H8908B1002- Home Depot ~$30). Hope this helps.

Has this always been an on going problem or just started?
Is it wired up to the furnace or a relay of some type controling the voltage (on and off)?
