I'm hoping someone will have an idea to what my problem is. I have a 5 year old Bolens rider with a 20 hp briggs twin. When ever I go to start it, the engine pours out blue smoke, which means I'm burning oil I guess. Very annoying, but it ends after a couple minutes of running.
A couple times I've had it where it will not turn over, as in the engine is locked. In those instances I needed to manually work it so the engine would turn over, and when I finally was able use the electric start and get the thing running, it would spray out gas through the frontend muffler all over my driveway.
I'm thinking about adding a fuel shut off hoping this would solve it, but maybe someone has another idea?

The carb needs to be cleaned and reconditioned. The inlet needle is leaking gas into the crankcase. Don't run it this way, because gas is in the oil. Gas makes a poor lubricant and it will ruin your engine in short order.
