Hello
I have craftman lawn tractor 20.0 hp Kohler engine 42 inch mower. Put the it away last week after yard work was done and this week I tried to use it again and the battery was dead, so I thought. I charge it - I cranked it as I was cranking it tried to catch but keep back firing though the muffler. I think it is either two thiings - either the pin sheared for the timing or the something is wrong with the valves. Any thoughts?

My money would be on the flywheel key being sheared. I would also take the air filter off and have a look to see if the carburetor is flooding fuel, I have seen this a few times on the Kohler engines.
