Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm at the point where I'm about ready to blow my Christmas fund on a plumber.

I am working on installing marble tiles in my shower. I stripped all the former tiles off the floors and walls and replaced the warped sheet rock panels with cement backer board. The floor of the shower already had a sloped mortar bed and is ready to go after some light sanding. I opened up the drain grate and it is actually hinged into the drain "casing." I'm not clear on all the terms, so bear with me. The casing is metal and rusted. The casing and grate must be replaced. Plus, the grate lies flush with the mortar bed and my new tile to install is 3/16" thick. The grate cannot sit that low below my new tile. This is an old home and the shower was installed probably about 25-30 years ago. It is located in the basement and the underlying floor is cement slab so there's no risk of any subfloor/ceiling damage. How can I replace the rusted portion of my drain/grate without having to completely rip out and replace the entire shower drain pan? I don't know what to buy for a replacement since there are metal pipes and there are so many options.
