We have purchased a new shower faucet trim kit. Of course, the faucet handle does not fit the existing rough-in valve!
We're not sure what the answer is. I have looked at other valves and cannot find one that looks like ours. It seems that we will have to change the valve out, one way or the other. Do you know what is involved in this process? The old one is a delta with a little swivel ball inside. The new one is price pfister and the rough-in valve to fit that looks like it has a flange with 7 holes around it. Is it possible to replace the valve ourselves? Or do we need a plumber?

Well, I did get the valve I needed. Had to order it from Price Pfister. NOW, I probably will be calling a plumber. THANKS!

Why didn't you get a new Delta trim kit? Using a P-F trim kit on a Delta valve is sort of like trying to put Ford parts on a Chevy.

Delta trim kits are available through plumbing supply houses and online.

Just wondering...sure seems like it would have been simpler.

because I am a woman and I had no idea that all trim kits would not fit. and I wanted this pretty brass set that I found on ebay with towel bar, tp holder and faucet to match.

Lol...well, I don't think being a lady has anything to do with it. Plenty of guys probably wouldn't know either.

Just a note, I hope you really like it, cause a plumber may have to open the wall behind the valve, if possible, or make the hole in the shower area bigger. That can be a problem depending on the type of mat'l inside the shower. It's not a simple job, unless the whole bath was being re-done and the walls open.

Not a plumber, but you could be looking at several hundred dollars at least. If the wall behind the valve butts to a closet, you could probably use an access plate to fill in after.
