I have a constant issue with a bathroom sink backing up probably due to hair. Is there a product out there that is safe to use with a septic or am I limited to using a snake to clear. I currently use a small plunger but that only gives short term relief. Thanks!

There are enzyme based products that will work fine. The best known is probably "Drain Care".It works in a different way and can take longer but may actually do a better job than chemical products. It is effective on organic material such as hair and shouldn't harm a septic system.Read the directions carefully.Basically consumes the material all the way to the walls of the pipe.

Hello Mjsteelman, do you mind if I ask a few questions?

Hope so

What is the piping made of?
Do you have a good plunger?
Do you plug off the overflow drain on the sink when plunging?

There are many acids/drain cleaners that will work with septic systems. Make sure you read the package. There is also a new non-acid green drain cleaner, safe for the environment out there that I have used a couple times with success. Unfortunately, I do not remember the brand name, but I do know it was purchased at F.W. Webb Plumbing Supply. (not an ad, but a reference to where to find this product.) If I can get the name this week I will pass it along.
