Hi there.

We've just moved into a house with power showers, which are playing up. Even with a tank full of hot water, they take a long time (~40 seconds) to get warm, then fade to cold over a few minutes, even with the flow and temperature set to max.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks

Mike

I never used or installed a power shower, but it sounds that the problem is in the tank. How is the water heated?

Tank is heated via heat exchanger from a gas boiler. It's full of hot water, which flows to the hot taps around the house just fine. The feed to the pump for the power showers gets hot when the showers are running, but nothing reaches the showers.

So you're losing the heat at the pump. Does the pump send both hot and cold water to the shower and is there a mixing valve on the pump? Where is the pump located in the house and does the feed from the pump to the shower go up an outside wall?

Pump sends hot and cold. Mixing valve is at the shower end, but input pipe on the hot is cold. Pump is in the loft; all piping is internal.

You could try to insulate the pipes and the pump but I would probably eliminate it completely.
