On these double wall heaters, they have a pilot light and also one in the center. Are both of these supposed to be lit all the time?

No, only the outside one is on all the time. When you turn on the thermostat the burner close to the lit pilot lights and in turn lights the middle pilot which lights the other burner.

I've been in the HVAC game for more than a few years & have never heard of a "Double Wall Furnace". Would someone be kind enough to explain or better yet, post a link to some literature? Thanks.

Son of a gun. Never seen such an animal. I've seen the singles but never a back to back with a common vent going up the stud space. Learn something every day. Thanks.

Our climates are a bit different. Around here you can't get a loan to buy a house unless it has "central" heating. Space heaters are not acceptable even if it is big enough to heat the whole house. Floor furnaces will get an application rejected too. I guess electric baseboard is "central" heat with a thermostat in each room. I dunno.
