We bought two identical Harbor Breeze fans, but two different HB remotes (one was a lot cheaper and we really only needed one since the fans are in the same location; so much for being thrifty).
Once the fans were installed and the dip switches set identically, we found that one remote controls one fan, the other controls the other. We want to simply have one remote control both fans.
Are there different types of these modules? We tried both these remotes on a HB fan in the other room...only the nicer remote works.
It seems like we must either a) buy another nicer remote, take the fan apart and install that component or b) find a true universal remote so we don't have to take the fan apart.
Any other suggestions or recommended universals?

Even if you were to have all the dip switches set alike, if there should ever be a glitch and the fans become out of sync with the remote, one will come on and the other will go off. It would be best for you to install a switch plate remote receiver and control both fans from that location. This is assuming, too the fans are switch controlled. But first, remove the batteries from the remote you won't be using. That way you will only have one remote. Be doubly sure the dip switches in both fans and the remaining remote are set identically.

Hi Chandler,
These are running by remote only. Yesterday, I tried every dip switch combo on the nicer HB remote, trying to get the other HB fan to respond. Nothing.

Are you changing the dip positions on the fan? You keep on mentioning the remote only.

The remotes must be the same, or the receivers are not normally compatible with one another.
