We recently got a new heat pump with 410A refrigerant but when the heat pump was installed, copper line was not replaced (the old unit used R22). They said they will just flush the line and it will be fine. We are experiencing vibration and noise when heat pump heats. Would the old copper line cause this?
What can be done to fix this problem?

I'd call the dealer back and have them take care of this.. The new 410 runs at a higher pressure, and can cause the noise that you are hearing.

Thank you Jay for your reply. Should we turn off the heat pump until they fix the problem?
Also should we insist that they change the copper line when they come and look at the unit? This problem has been going on about 2 months and they changed a few things but they never mentioned the copper line.
Thanks again,
Sue

If you need heat, keep it on. There is no harm with this running.
A new line is not going to solve the problem. The lines needs to be secured in place. If they are just hanging there, it will vibrate more and makes it annoying like you hare experinceing.

Ditto, Jay.
There may also be spots where the line set is to tight against the wood framing of the house. This can make a very loud racket.
As far as the line set change out goes, what's done is done.
