I'm shopping for new laminate flooring after a recent flood in my basement. The floor that was destroyed in the flood was DuPont Elite from HD. I was happy with the quality of that floor, but I want to take it a step further this time with matching base moldings. As far as I can tell DuPont does not manufacture matching moldings for their flooring products, and HD points you to the "one color matches all" stuff in the store. So far I've found only 2 manufacturers that do this- Wilsonart, and Mannington. Does anyone else manufacture a high quality laminate with matching quality trim work including base moldings? Will wilsonart or mannington differ in quality to the elite? Any help would be greatly appreciated :coffee:

I just bought the Dupont Real Touch Elite laminate. Local Home Depots don't stock as much Dupont as they do Pergo, so I did a special order of Dupont. The take home sample boards have all the matching moldings that are available listed on the back. When I ordered mine, Dupont offered the fastrim (T moldings etc), quarter round and base moldings.
You should do your own search instead of listening to a HD salesperson pointing you to the one color matches all moldings.

Both Wilsonart and Mannington offer good, better, best levels of quality, warrranty, and price. Compare apples to apples and purchase the best product that your budget will allow.
If going with the Dupont Elite, you can purchase another manufacturer's moldings that complement your flooring. Or, as suggested, you can stain and finish your own. Base moldings come in a variety of heights and profiles. You may want to opt for something different than that of the flooring manufacturer.

Thanks everyone for the help. My goal is to avoid stain/poly time, and match the color/finish exactly with the floor, so i'm going to investigate each manufacturer's solution to this. One more for the list of companys that offer a base molding solution- Alloc...

I also checked the fastrim site (fausfloor) and it does not appear that they manufacture matching base moldings. Do you normally stain and poly new moldings for an install? (seems that would add significant time/cost to the job) or just install matching quarter round over painted moldings?

I installed mixed styles of Pergo and stained the base and 1/4 round to compliment the colors and styles. Not a match exactly, but picked up the colors in the flooring.
My neighbor bought "matching" base and he and his wife both liked mine better. She even wanted him to change theirs.
A little more work, but mmmm the satisfaction was very tasty!

Painted or stained/finished interior trim can be a matter of budget or personal preference. Stain grade trim is more expensive than finger-jointed paint grade trim and can add to cost of job, excluding time to DIY or paying someone to finish. As indicated, DIY can provide one with great feelings of satisfaction.
Typically interior trim is treated the same throughout the home for the sake of continuity. Baseboards and quarter round or shoe molding is typically finished the same.

hmmm......staining the trim myself will not only expand my choices for the style of the base molding, but open me to many different flooring manufacturers. I think I may go that way...Thanks for the help everyone...
