I just moved into a newly remodeled house this past Saturday. When I turn on the kitchen vent above the stove, dust falls through the metal wired filters. At first I thought it were the filters so I cleaned it... but no help. Then I disassembled the fan and cleaned it... no help as well. 2 hours later, I end up wiping down the whole vent inside out. After I reinstalled the fan and filters, I turned on the vent and dust still down. i can't clean any more areas in the vent. Any help appreciated. Is this common for new vents?

Where does this unit exhaust too? Out the front or is there a duct?
They might have installed the unit without putting a duct in.

There's a tube/duct that goes out to the side of the house.
