My brother wants to plant a huge piece of land and we're looking for a good, one-man, gas powered earth auger to make digging these holes much easier. A used one in good working condition is ok. We prefer one with several attachments to it so we can dig holes of different sizes. Can anyone rcommend a brand and model number ?

If it is a huge piece of land, you will tire quickly of a one man auger, hauling it from site to site. In a yard, maybe. You obviously have a tractor, right? If so, I use a Leinbach 9" auger around my place, but you can get larger bits if needed.

Well, I said "huge" but we're not talking about hundreds of acres here. So a small portable one would be ok. No tractor.

Then I would rent one. The type I have used has the motor and transmission in front on top of the wheels. The auger is in the back between handle bars. It is easy to maneuver ad safer to use than the type with the motor on top and handlebars. If you hit a root or rock with the latter, hold on, the ride is phenomenal. Hurts a little.
