I just bought a house with this insert already installed. I plugged the unit in, thinking this would turn on a blower, but nothing. Any idea what the plug is for? Also, which way is the open position for the flue and what is the white button-like thing on the bottom right that won't seem to move? I would think the unit is just old given the plug and "button" not doing anything but I really don't think it is! Please help this newbie!

I have the same fireplace insert. The plug powers the blower fan. However, the fan has a thermostatic control. Even plugged in and turned on, the blower won't run if the insert is cold or just warm.
The flue damper is the horizontal metal rod located in the middle just below the top of the insert.
On the lower right side are two controls. On is a rocker switch for blower fan on/off. The other is a rotary dial for blowr fan speed.

On my insert The rocker switch up position is on. Rotery speed control will also turn off the fan when rotated fully CCW (mine clicks off).
Does anyone know where to get replacement fans? My bearings rattle like crazy.
Thanks
