I am attempting to restretch the carpet in a grand living space. I rented a power stretcher...but it wont reach from wall to the other wall (good 20 feet short is some places)

Is there a technique for stretching rooms where the power stretcher wont reach across the room?

Thanks
J

I'm guessing I'll get a lot of flack for this answer, but I've used the technique and it's worked for me. In a similar situation, I nailed a board across the room, midway, and stretched off it both ways. This created a false "wall" to stretch off. I would imagine the first responce would be, "What about the holes the nails make in the carpet?". Ever look at the under side of a stretcher head?

I have seen this done as well. It works!

How many poles are you using???
I have 6 poles and it gets me out to 35 feet. More then that and your going to need a Senior stretcher, compared to a Jr. stretcher.

Dividing the room is great, if there is a wood subfloor. Concrete and good luck on that.

The nails through the carpet can look bad. It really depends on the carpet and where in the carpets construction the nail is placed.
