I bought a 60-inch Aquaglass shower/tub unit to install in my previously unfinished basement.

While it was setting in my garage, I noticed it looked a good bit higher in the back than the front. I checked the level front to back and I needed to raise the front about 3/4" to be level. The instructions say nothing about shiming the front, and it didn't think it a good idea anyway. So I called Aquaglass, they said I needed to shave off the supporting piece of 2" lumber in back to get level.

This seemed excessive to me, having to trim off 3/4" of the support. It seemed like a manufacturing defect to me. Any one else had to shave off that much (assuming you are compensating for an unlevel floor) ?

Not sure what you are seeing, a pic might help. But I do not think you should have to trim anything. The top of tub walls are usually level, the bottom of the tub often slopes slightly toward the drain. Before even considering trimming anything contact the manufacturer.

I think it was built wrong. I just helped put in a shower with the opposite problem. We shimmed the rear (actually used treated plywood glued to the entire support piece.)

It was too painful to think about getting a replacement.

I hear you. I'll probably just trim 3/4" off the supporting 2x6 at the rear rather than dealing with an return/exchange.
