i recently replaced my shower diverter estchuion plate, riser, stem and knob. It is a push in (shower) pull out (tub) single knob that turns left and right for hot/cold. There wasn't any leaking problem with the pipes or fixtures but the plate had some corrosion allowing water to get behind the shower wall.
now the spout leaks when you turn the water off. When I accessed the h-bar on the rough pipes i noticed there was a slotted insert for both the hot and cold sides. You could tighten them down to turn water off. Do these need some kind of packing, ring etc.?
Also the knob doesn't seem to push in all the way. Could this be adjusted.
I need help on this one bad. Thanks in advance.
thanks,

Manufacturer??? Or a pic would help us. There is usually a packing nut that compresses a washer/gasket around the stem. Not sure what you have.
