I just moved into a home with way too many recessed lights. I am looking for some advice on how to remove/cover/hide them?

Welcome to the forums! Even if you were to be able to remove the light fixtures, you have the cable connection to deal with, meaning it must be terminated in a junction box with a cover that is always accessible and not covered, so major ugly. Do you have access to the space above this area? You may have to rewire all the lights you want to remain, remove the ones you don't want, and patch the holes in the drywall, finish and paint. Have you considered using a dimmer on the lights? It would make them not so glaring with alot less work.
