With your sound, most likely you will have to open up your dryer to get the drum out the front, after you unhook the belt from the idler tensioner pulley. Your whine will most likely be coming from a bad rear drum support wheel or from a rear drum support center bearing that has a metal ball socket that fits into a plastic nylon socket.

If you get it tore down, me or someone else here coud tell you exactly how to install anything new.

But, you use the word whine and not squeal. So before doing anything yet, maybe you should access everywhere you can access to identify better. Especially by the motor and belt idler tensioner pulley. It is possible one of these is causing you problems also.

One sign of a bad rear bearing (if yours has that support method) is that the rear of the drum lowers some, and when you open the dryer door and look in at the back of the dryer, you would see that the gap at the rear bottom is noteably larger than that up at the top rear. Check that out and let me know.
