I just purchased a dryer that has a 3 prong cord, 3 flat blades, which I understand to be 50 amps. The problem is the outlet for the dryer is a 3 prong with 2 50 amb blades and one 90 degree blade that is 30 amps. I am not sure what direction to take to hook up my dryer. Should I replace the cord or the outlet?

The receptacle with the L shaped prong and 30 amp rating is correct the 50 amp cord is not.I'm assuming you bought the dryer used with the cord.Someone in the past had it hooked to the wrong recptacle.this is a fairly common occurance.Go to a hardware store etc and buy a real dryer cord which will have the right prongs and rating. It will be labeled as such.
