I am installing some boards and I have 137 inches under a chair rail. I am going to use 2 '1/4 inch boards and I want probably five or six in that span. How do I space them out? 137/6 is 22.8333333. Does that spacing sound / look ok?

It is a chair rail going up stairs then the 2 1/4 has rounded edges...I have seen it in magazines but I don't know how to space it out. Not bead board, not sure of the name of it.

Measure to the middle and designate your center line at 69". It will be easier to do this with even numbers. Install the first one there, on center. To put 3 to either side of this, measure 23" to the center of the next one, then 23" to the center of the next one. Do the same on the other side of the center board. They will all be equally spaced and you won't notice the 1/2" difference between the last board and the wall.
