I have beautiful travertine floors over most of my house without any molding. I am finding this difficult to live with but for resale reasons later I want to preserve the travertine. Is it possible to have carpeting installed, wall to wall in some places, without damaging the travertine. Can it be done without any molding to tuck the carpet under ?

Yes, if done without cushion, and laid like a big area rug(anti slip matting under it), and bound edges.
