I want to add general lighting to my first floor living room, keeping to lamps for task lightings. I have a late 60's house. There is no wiring or power to the ceiling. The joists run perpendicular to the long dimension of the room. I would like all the recessed lights to one switch. How do you get the wiring done, through the joists without totally ripping out the ceiling dry wall and at least one wall?
Thanks

Is there an accessible attic above this room? If so, the job is pretty easy. If not, drywall repair is cheap and easy.
