I live in northern Vermont - we've had our first snow already - and getting -30 is not uncommon.
I have a detached garage with an area we are converting into a sewing / craft room for my wife. 12x12 feet.
We used H/W baseboard heat in the house, supplied by an Energy Kinetics SYSTEM2000 propane boiler. System 2000 Overview (http://www.energykinetics.com/productOverview.shtml)
I have only used 2 of the 4 zones - and would like to know if it would make sense to run one of the remaining zones into the garage to heat this planned room. It would be about a 50' under ground run to get to the room.
My intent would be to lay the piping and cover with a THIN SLAB.
Make sense?
Is this a DIY project?

Sure could be a DIY.
Plenty of places on the net to learn how to do this correctly.
And you do need to do your homework as you are already starting out wrong.
Don't lay pipe and cover with slab.
Pipe will need to be buried below frost line and insulated. You want to heat the room not the ground between boiler and room.
